Sunday February 17: FLIGHT TO ISRAEL

Monday February 18: BRACHIM Haba'im - welcome to israel
Personal and professional connections: Mifgash
  • Arrival at Ben Gurion airport Opening Program in Haifa with Haifa educators and professionals

Tuesday February 19: HAIFA: INNOVATION IN EDUCATION

We will visit multiple educational centers and meet with their leaders and professionals to learn why they were created, and how they have evolved to adapt to today’s needs and changes. All of these centers are united by the common goal of building responsible, resilient citizens who respect ethical values and who will grow to be healthy and productive individuals.
  • Tour of Haifa to explore the city and its diverse population
  • Site visits to see models of Innovation in Education:
    • Gan Sapir/Forest School - (Educator: Efrat) Outdoor education for the modern era that fosters creativity, physical and emotional wellbeing, and more.
    • Lilac Center for parents
    • Gan Nativ/STEM School - (Educator: Etty) "Innovation in Education" visit, lecture and dialogue with Dr. Orit Goldenberg

Wednesday February 20field trip with haifa's educators AND PROFESSIONALS 
  • Joint experience of the city of Safed to explore spirituality, a shared family story, and belonging.

Thursday February 21: Parenting in the modern era - holistic APPROACHES to education putting parents/caregivers at the center

We will visit several centers for parent in diverse neighborhoods.  Each center serves a different population and therefore has different goals, challenges and vision.  We will have the opportunity to share our own experiences and learn from one another.
  • Tennis Center - (Director: Talia) Physical education in the digital era; Jewish-Arab communication through sport
  • Parents at the Center with Hilla Perelman
  • Tour of Wadi Nisnas (Arab neighborhood of the city)
  • 4:00-6:30 Horev 14 with Michal Elbaz

Friday February 22: MODELS IN EDUCATION, CONTINUED
                                  BIG IDEAS: COMMUNITY, VALUES, SELF-CARE
  • Gan Shibboleth Community Forest School (Director: Rahel Hazan)
  • Orthodox Jewish Preschools - preparation for Shabbat
  • Exploring the beach (weather permitting)
  • Preparation for Shabbat with host families

Saturday February 23: SHABBAT AND HAVDALLAH WITH PARTNERS
  • Shabbat with host families
  • Communal Dinner and Havdalah Ceremony. Farewell from Haifa and our partners

Sunday February 24: SHO'AH TO TEKUMAH
  • Learn and remember at Yad Vashem (including educational philosophy of Janusz Korczk)
  • Israel Museum including the Shrine of the Book exhibit about the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Visit the Knesset Menorah
  • Mahane Yehuda Market: Culinary experience, art exploration and innovation - turning the market into a venue for vibrant night life

Monday February 25: DEAD SEA REGION
  • Visit the ancient site of Qumran, home to the "Yachad" Sect, often associated with the Essenes, and where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

Tuesday February 26: THE CRADLE OF FAITH
  • Old City of Jerusalem
    • Walking the Ramparts from Jaffa Gate to Zion Gate
    • The Herodian Mansions of the Jewish Quarter
    • "5 Pillars of Islam" overlooking the Dome of the Rock and El-Aqsa Mosque
    • Visit to the Kotel
  • Tel Aviv 
    • Nahalat Binyamin arts and crafts fair
    • Carmel Shuk

Wednesday February 27: TEL AVIV
  • Visit the Bialik House, home of Israeli national poet and visionary who understood the need to educate children. 
  • Visit the Aviv Educational Center to see an Arab-Jewish gan (preschool) in the Ajami neighborhood affiliated with the Freund Waldorf Education System
  • 14:15 Visit the Taglit Innovation Center
  • Bus tour of Tel Aviv
  • Farewell dinner: Libyan food at Gueta

Thursday February 28: GOOD-BYE: FLIGHT BACK TO USA
